Spirit Points System (SPS) Overview - available in early 2007

Barth and Barth Developments was given the opportunity recently to develop a unique and innovative solution for the University of Dayton in the fall/winter of 2006.

We now would like to expand this solution for other universities and colleges.

The Spirit Points System (SPS) is a system that provides a mechanism for universities, colleges, and organizations to provide special preference to loyal fans or attendees.

SPS has three main interfaces:

  • Attendance Collection
By using reliable equipment from Symbol Technologies (R), we provide you with barcode scanners that are able to scan nearly any barcode type. These scans are then uploaded from the scanner to your SPS Server using our custom-made SPS Upload Utility. Attendees can instantly see their attendance record by visiting the guest portal.

  • Group Registration
At any time that the system administrator sets up, users can login to their guest portal and register for, in the case of the University of Dayton, ticket distribution groups. These groups can hold up to four persons. Every 15 minutes the group's average point total and rank is determined.

  • Ticket Distribution
Once the group registration deadline has closed for the particular ticket distribution, a system administrator can print a master list of all groups and distirbute sports tickets (or any tickets for that matter) according to rank.

What are people saying?

"In light of the new Spirit Points system, many of my friends and I have started attending more volleyball, soccer, and football games. Our points have been generously adding up, guaranteeing us better seats for basketball than those who have not attended these games." ~ James McDermott in Flyer News, Volume 54, Issue 12

SPS also comes with an administrative interface that allows system admins to create/modify/remove distributions, events, attendance records, and upload utility permissions. This highly functional administrative section is simple and easy to use.
